Laurens

Why you'd want to live in Laurens

Laurens County was established in 1785 as a part of the Old 96 District. Original maps indicate the town may have originally been called Laurensville. The first reference to it being called Laurens is a town charter written in 1873. Today the City of Laurens is a community where people from surrounding areas still gather downtown to shop in unique shops on the town square, to eat in one-of-a-kind eateries and to socialize with good friends. It is a place where education is a priority, and the city is diligently creating economic opportunities within and around its borders. The City of Laurens has several incredible parks allowing residents a wonderful quality of living, which is second to none. They fully embrace and understand the rewards of hard work and the art of good living. The beautiful Historical Downtown Square is a beautiful focal point for the essence of the city - "Charming, Beautiful, Quaint, Historical and Welcoming". It has all the components for southern hospitality at its finest and the sophistication of the larger cities. Although city is rapidly growing, it has pledged to never lose its "small town" values. via City of Laurens
